Peterloon Estate, a Favorite Venue in Cincinnati
Some say I am an old soul. Loving and appreciating the stories behind Cincinnati’s historical homes is so inspiring. The character in this case is also a wonderful estate perfect for hosting weddings and events. If these wall could talk, we would receive an earful! From an intimate gathering in the sunken garden to a lavish Gatsby bash – this place is perfect for any party!
What is the biggest reason couples should pick your venue?
Peterloon is a beautiful and unique historical estate that was built in 1928 to rival the grandest houses of America and Europe and was the home of Cincinnati developer and arts patron, John J. Emery and his wife, Irene. The estate is perfect for a couple that is looking for a truly magical place that has eternal elegance, natural outdoor beauty and opulent interiors that will create a picturesque backdrop for their wedding. The estate is special because it offers an opportunity to transport the couple to this stunning and serene place to celebrate their big day. We have a lovely onsite bridal suite and ample gorgeous indoor and outdoor photo opportunities, so they can relax and enjoy their entire day at Peterloon leading up to their exquisite ceremony and reception.
What makes your venue stand out?
Every detail of Peterloon was intentionally finished with pieces of history that were salvaged from European castles and estates. As guests navigate the home, they will find architectural and design treasures, such as the 400-year-old oak parquet de Versailles flooring in the living and dining rooms, the 16th century Indigo Jones mantelpiece in the front hall and the hand-carved Slavonian oak paneling from the mid-1600s. There is masterful artistry found in every facet of Peterloon’s design.
The incredible splendor of the home is surrounded by gorgeous exteriors. The outside is adorned with numerous animal carvings and statues, from snails and dolphins to a robust rooster and a basket full of adorable puppies. The expansive two-tiered backyard complete with a new, 55’x100’ terrace, is ideal for larger tented celebrations. Strolling through a tunnel of natural foliage, guests will enter an exquisite hidden garden that is picturesque for an intimate wedding ceremony. The family’s European style swimming pool including a fountain is a spectacular backdrop for a romantic sunset photo.

As a nonprofit organization, how do you help serve the nonprofit community?
John J. and his wife Irene Emery were both devoted to Cincinnati, lovers of the arts and incredibly giving. To honor their legacy, the Peterloon Foundation was established to help give back to nonprofit organizations. One way they do this is by offering use of the house and grounds at nominal rental rates to qualified charitable groups. At the core of the Peterloon Foundation is a commitment to help be a home for nonprofit organizations’ events so they can continue to do great work in the community.
