The first time I met Kathy I knew we would become fast friends! She is always such a positive person and full of energy. Her business and creative ideas are the best! When I need someone to bounce an idea off of I call her or we go out for a coffee date. She is also a wonderful event planner in the Cincinnati and Dayton area. She always puts her brides and grooms first which is another reason that we work so well together!

When did you first realize you wanted to work with weddings?

Ironically, I didn’t — others in the industry recognized it before I did. When five wedding professionals asked me if I’d ever considered becoming a wedding planner, I asked ‘what’s a wedding planner?’

What is your training or background?
I had several years of event planning experience on the corporate side prior to opening my company. I had coordinated concerts, parents weekend at Xavier, fundraisers, trade shows, press conferences, and company sales meetings. I worked in marketing communications and public affairs roles for two different Fortune 500 companies.

How long have you been in business? Where are you located?
We have been in business for ten years. Our Cincinnati location is located next to the Sharonville Fine Arts Center in downtown Sharonville. Our Dayton location is located in the upscale Shops of Oakwood.

Why did you start your business?
After researching more about the industry, my husband and I decided to give it a year. That was ten years ago. I started the business because vendors had said I’d be a really good wedding planner because of my upbeat personality and grounded way of designing and planning the wedding.

What is your favorite part of a wedding?
The end of the night when I get a big hug from the bride, groom and the parents and they say they couldn’t have done it without me.

Where do you go for inspiration?
I go to the couple — I find out what makes them unique, their likes, tastes, etc. That’s what drives the wedding designs. Pinterest is good for ideas, but that is the foundation for the wedding.

What are your favorite upcoming trends?
I like the dessert table (vs wedding cake) trend.

Do you have any new favorite products?
I love Brenda Pottinger’s new case for the wedding images 🙂

What is one thing you wish brides knew while planning a wedding?
Planning a wedding is stressful — if you trust the professionals you’ve hired to help you discover what you want instead of telling them what to do, you’ll have a much better result!

Anything else you want to share with us?
If you are looking for a cool rehearsal dinner spot or location for a small wedding ceremony & reception (up to 90) check out the Sharonville Fine Arts Center. We are working with them to launch this really cool, artsy venue with a loft-like feel. Call or email me to schedule a tour time! Very affordable!
