Photo Convention, PhotoPro Expo 2015

It is always exciting each year to be inspired by so many great speakers at our local photo convention. World-class photographers come to Northern Kentucky to speak about their work and tell their story of how they came to be so well known for their art. This year the underlying them seemed to be vision. What sets us all apart is the unique perspective we bring to our work. Peter Hurley is known for his headshots for Vanity Fair and Abercrombie and Fitch. He had some funny hints on how to get the most out of each client. Roberto Valenzuela had to be my favorite speaker. It could have been his sexy accent but I also adored seeing his before and after photos. He has truly trained his eye to make the most out of every situation. He encouraged us all to practice thirty minutes a week on different lighting situations. And that we should always ask how can you improve the light? Michael Grecco who is well knows for photographing celebrities gave a wonderful quote for inspiration on staying in the moment:

“Ten thousand flowers in spring, the moon in autumn,
a cool breeze in summer, snow in winter.
If your mind isn’t clouded by unnecessary things,
this is the best season of your life.” Wu-Men

Tamara Lackey spoke on lifestyle portraits and how to create authentic expressions even in the midst of chaos. And the final speaker I saw was Matthew Jordan Smith who talked about how important relationships are to creating connections with our clients.

Overall I am excited to start 2015 with so many great ideas to put into practice. The trade show also featured many new products we can’t wait to share and order. Thank you to the photo community for putting in the work to create a fun experience and for being so open to sharing! See you next year!
